Douglas P. Slakey(Biography)
Dr. Slakey is a Professor of Surgery and a Clinical Professor of Urology and Paediatrics. He was the Director of the Tulane Center for Abdominal Transplantation from 1998 until 2006, when he became Chair of the Tulane Department of Surgery. He received his undergraduate and graduate education at the University of California at Berkeley. His Masters in Public Health had a focus on the Epidemiology of Infectious Disease and Healthcare Administration. His medical school and general surgery residency were at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While there, he was the Administrative Chief Resident and he maintained an active research program studying aspects of transplant immunology. He received several awards for his research and has presented his results across the United States and in several countries around the world. He has experience in both adult and paediatric transplantation, including advanced procedures such as living related and split liver transplantation. He has an active hepatobiliary surgical practice treating patients with benign and malignant disease. Dr. Slakey's interests also extend to advanced laparoscopic surgery. He was the first surgeon in the south-eastern United States to perform laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy for renal transplantation. In addition, he is one of the first surgeons to perform major laparoscopic liver resections. Dr. Slakey is very active in the transplant community. In addition, he has continued his research interest in clinical and basic science studies in transplant immunology, advanced laparoscopy, and other aspects of advanced surgical science.

Vikas Dhawan is Associate Professor for Hand and Microsurgery Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine of the University of Kentucky. He has for full specialist training at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery affiliated with the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He has completed an AO Foundation fellowship in hand surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland and a clinical fellowship in brachial plexus surgery at the University of Yamaguchi in Japan. He also completed a tissue engineering research fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is specialized in hand surgery, microsurgery and brachial plexus surgery.

I am director of fatty liver and related metabolic disorders study among Iranian families since 2015 and currently publishing the results of our study and research about fatty liver and hyperlipidemia, diabetes and nutrition as study director and clinician associate member of Iran Hepatitis Network. "She teaches general surgery at the University of Bologna. She conducted several postgraduate and undergraduate surgery courses (4 th year and 5th year of the degree course). She has an active role in the residency training programme. She taught general surgery to general surgery, thoracic surgery and radiotherapy residents, as well as to neurophysiology technicians and obstetrics. She is tutor of general surgery residents. She was consultant surgeon for hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at Perrino hospital of Brindisi, where she has performed a large number of HBP operations. She has performed, as first surgeon, more than 7,000 operations of general surgery at the Department of Surgery of the University of Bologna. Constantine Constantoyannis is a Neurosurgeon specialized in Functional Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery. He graduated from Medical School at Athens University, Greece, in 1990. He started his clinical career as a resident at the Department of Neurosurgery (1993-1999) at the University of Patras in West Greece with Prof. N. Papadakis. In 2001 he accomplished his PhD in Neurosurgery with a clinical study on Transcranial Doppler Sonography in subarachnoid hemorrhage. After two fellowships, (2001) at the University of Umea (Sweden) and at the University of British Columbia (Canada) (2002-2003) with Prof. Christopher Honey, he completed his training in Functional Neurosurgery. Since 2004 he became a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Patras University Hospital and he is currently an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical School in Patras, Greece. Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences. Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. He worked for 10 years at the Department of ENT diseases in the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute as a junior researcher. He defended in 1985 his thesis on "Differential diagnostic value of auditory evoked potentials in various forms of hearing impairment." Since 1990 he worked in the Scientific Center of Audiology and Hearing Aids Health Ministry as a senior researcher. It awarded the title of "senior researcher" in 1992. Powered by the department of Otorhinolaryngology RMAPO a professor. In 2002 he defended his doctoral thesis on "Optimization technologies hearing improving interventions in various forms of hearing loss." He is an assistant professor of surgery and head of the hand and microsurgery section at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, specializing in hand surgery and microsurgery. Waldo Concepcion, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Surgery, Chief of Clinical Transplantation at Stanford University and Chief of Pediatric Kidney Transplantation at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Dr. Concepcion was born in Omaha, Nebraska and spent his early years in Panama and Costa Rica. He graduated Medical School from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico. He then completed his General Surgery Residence at Loma Linda University Medical Center and his Transplantation Surgery Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas Starzl, world leader in the field of transplantation. Dr. Concepcion is a member of the original team that developed the liver transplant program at California Pacific Medical Center, where he practiced as a transplant surgeon from 1988 to 1994 and is an expert in the field of hepatobiliary and portal hypertension surgery. He and his team moved to Stanford University In 1994. By 1996, he was named director of the Transplantation Institute at Loma Linda University Medical Center where he founded the pediatric liver program and served as Director over the multi-organ transplant program. Under his leadership, his program became one of the premier transplant centers in Southern California, earning the industry distinction of Center of Excellence among health care organizations as well as his program being reported one of the highest patient and organ graft survival in Southern California. In 2005, Dr. Concepcion returned to Stanford University to become the new Chief of Clinical Transplantation and Chief of Pediatric Kidney Transplantation at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital continuing in the tradition of one of the best kidney transplant programs in the world. He has published over 100 articles and book chapters in the scientific literature and remains active in clinical research projects. His area of interest are; outcomes in pediatric and adult liver transplantation and kidney transplantation, pediatric liver tumors, and viral infections post-op transplantation in pediatric patients.

Ramazi O. Datiashvili, MD, PhD is a world recognized Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon. He has had an extremely successful carrier in Russia. After graduation from The First Moscow Medical Institute in 1972 and completion of his Fellowship in General and Vascular Surgery at the National Research Center of Surgery in 1974, he quickly progressed to become a Chief of the Microsurgical Department at age 28 at the Moscow City Hospital #51. He earned his PhD degree in 1978. In 1981 he continued his outstanding academic and surgical carrier at the National Surgical Center in Moscow – a leading surgical institution in Russia. In 1988 he earned a Degree “Doctor of Medical Sciences†– the highest scientific degree in Russia. In 1991 Dr. Datiashvili immigrated to the US. Here he completed General Surgery Residency at the Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and then Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry/New Jersey Medical School. Now Dr. Datiashvili continues his successful carrier as a Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at Rutgers University/New Jersey Medical School. "Giovanni Ussia is Professor of Surgery and Consultant in General and Thoracic Surgery of the University of Bologna, Medical School, Bologna Italy. He was Registered with the Order of Physicians and Dentists of Catanzaro, Catanzaro, Italy from 1974-1982 and registered with the Order of Physicians and Dentists of Bologna, Bologna, Italy # 9663 from 09.11.1982 until today. He was also registered with the General Medical Council UK # 7165293 from 04.09.2013. The scientific research was in line with this addressing various areas of investigation, including surgery of the liver, liver transplantation, acute liver failure, liver regeneration, the study of liver preservation awaiting transplant the pathophysiology of acid bile, portal hypertension, tissue reactivity to synthetic materials such as sutures, the use of human fibrin, the study of tissue reactivity for vascular prostheses, the effects of the laser beam, and the agnostic insulinoma problems. He carried out important studies in the field of laparoscopic surgery. Vascular surgery and the prevention of arterial thrombosis has been a very interesting area of study that were then published on the Journal of Vascular Surgery ; recently we have been dedicated to clinical research in preventive and protective medicine using high-tech equipment and combining the clinical, laboratory, genetic and imaging data to make prevention programs tailored to healthy individuals.
