"She teaches general surgery at the University of Bologna. She conducted several postgraduate and undergraduate surgery courses (4 th year and 5th year of the degree course). She has an active role in the residency training programme. She taught general surgery to general surgery, thoracic surgery and radiotherapy residents, as well as to neurophysiology technicians and obstetrics. She is tutor of general surgery residents. She was consultant surgeon for hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at Perrino hospital of Brindisi, where she has performed a large number of HBP operations. She has performed, as first surgeon, more than 7,000 operations of general surgery at the Department of Surgery of the University of Bologna. The documentation relating to surgery she has performed has been certified by the director general of the hospital and by the head of the Department of Surgery. Professor John Horowitz trained in Medicine in Adelaide, with subsequent clinical and research training in Cardiology and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Melbourne. From 1980 to 1982 he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard University, Boston.
